How to Polish a Stainless Steel Sink so it shines like the sun.

Dirty sinks can take a hike down the Blue-Ridge trail with all the other dirty appliances.  They should all trek there in their grime and grease and just camp out far, far away from the human race.
Clean sinks? Clean sinks got game.
I talked about how to clean a stainless steel sink in this post, but even though it looked clean and smelled clean, it just didn’t have that sparkly shine to it that I reeeeeallly wanted.

Low Cost Wood Plank Wall Treatment DIY Home Improvement

Our latest update here at the cottage has been to add a planked wall treatment. With a Fox Hollow Cottage twist.
Our planked wall has a slightly different vibe then you get with the smooth boards and very tight joints lots of folks are using. A bit rougher… it’s got a little more… “barn wood, farmhouse, rustic flavor”.

How to spray paint furniture

In the last few days, I have received several emails and comments asking for a “how to” on how I paint my furniture. Honestly, every piece is different but typically we do the same few steps. I will use my dresser redo to explain things since that is where the majority of the questions came from! You gals are so sweet with all of the compliments!
For this piece, it was a dark wood with a glossy lacquer of some sort over top. I started by lightly sanding the dresser to remove some of that shiny junk off… I know, I sound so professional ;) Then, I wiped off the dust from sanding. This roughened up the wood a bit and since I was using spray paint, I wanted it to stick really well. I also recommend using Gloss Off. You can get it from Home Depot and it helps the paint adhere better.

No green thumb needed. Step-by-step photo tutorial showing you how to easily make a fake topiary | In My Own Style

This is not the color of my thumb. I don’t have the natural ability to make plants thrive under my care and I gave up trying a long time ago.  I love plants and flowers and don’t mind using fake ones as long as they look natural. Some people are not fans of fake flowers – only because I think they envision the words “fake flowers” with the dried flower arrangements from the past. Now- a- days beautiful blooms can be purchased at Michaels and craft stores as well as Pottery Barn –yes Pottery Barn- the epitome of what is popular in decorating says it is A-OK to use FAKE – they even have a special sign displayed in their fake garden section in the store to remind you of the fact.
